Field Building

Field Building resources, supports and amplifies a narrative and cultural strategy ecosystem rooted in and powered by BIPOC communities that can sustainably shift worldviews from domination to liberation, collaboration, care and interdependence through initiatives like the Constellations Culture Change Fund & Initiative.

Housed at the Center for Cultural Power, Constellations is a network approach that inspires BIPOC artists disruptors, culture bearers, and cultural strategy organizations to create a world where power and culture are distributed equitably, sovereignty and self-determination are honored, and humans are in alignment with nature.

Core Functions

Cultural Power Building: Provides direct support to Artist Disruptors and Culture Bearers. Constellations will create models for direct support to BIPOC Artist Disruptors and Culture Bearers through a robust paid fellowship program and intentional cultural practice awards to support their creative work at the intersection of art, culture and social justice. This strategy centers the power of Artist Disruptors and Culture Bearers as social change leaders.

Organizational Strengthening: Provides multi-year general operating support grants to BIPOC-led cultural strategy organizations at the grassroots level to strengthen and sustain a stable and supportive network. This strategy will disperse funds to address historical and colonial funding disparity and increase regular streams of investments for the field. This strategy is designed to inspire funders to intentionally map and increase their general operating support to BIPOC-led cultural strategy organizations at the grassroots level.

Network Weaving and Learning: Provides the scaffolding for the Constellations network of Artist Disruptors, Culture Bearers, and cultural strategy organizations to collaborate, share best practices, learn, and grow the emerging narrative strategy field at the intersection of arts, culture and social justice. This strategy provides an interdisciplinary space for Artist Disruptors, Culture Bearers and narrative strategists to experiment with Constellation’s narrative system and build community across regions.
