In this 2018 satire, Reporter Jerry Gutierrez (played by Julio Salgado) tries to coax an undocumented poet (Yosimar Reyes) into sharing his border crossing experience. This attempt "exposure therapy," or reliving a trauma in order to heal, reveals how some journalists and content creators objectify, sensationalize and otherwise imprint their own misguided ideas about migration. "We talk to undocumented immigrants, so you don't have to!" Jerry assures his viewers. The spoof is aimed at getting us to think about the next immigration story we produce or consume. Our ace reporter Jerry learns a few lessons in his own harrowing experience with Yosi in the dangerous borderscape of Griffith Park, Los Angeles. Enjoy.
