Carving Through Borders

Originally handcarved by Chucha on a large 7'x3' wooden block, this print is the digital version scaled down to 18"x12" inches. Beautiful and potent.

Statement from the artist:

"In this piece we wanted to highlight the injustices transgender immigrants face in immigration detention facilities based on their transgender identities. We chose to focus on the story of Victoria Arellano, who lost her life while in detention after being misgendered, harassed, and denied of her AIDS medication."

About the artist:

He recently graduated from the University of California, Davis with a double major in Chican@ Studies and Psychology and a minor in Art Studio.
